Chef Brian Lee Brings Contemporary Twist on Global Cuisine to Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter
Transformed From Financial Analyst to Culinary Aficionado, Lee Redefines the Culinary Experience in Dunwoody
ATLANTA – June 26, 2013 – Chef Brian Lee thrives on challenging the ordinary by masterfully intertwining classic global dishes with enticing European and Asian flavours at Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter’s anxiously awaited new restaurant, Portico. These meals almost never became a reality as the chef began his career with an untraditional culinary route: financial analysis. Chef Lee graduated from California State University with a business degree, but fortunately for discerning palates, also found a love for the kitchen.
“It was the memories of watching my mother cook traditional Korean meals and viewing Jacques Pepin and Martin Yan cooking shows that ignited my passion for cooking,” Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter Executive Chef Brian Lee said. “I felt unfulfilled in the financial industry and realized cooking was truly my destiny.”
Chef Lee attended Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts School in California and ventured down the arduous path of becoming a successful chef. Chef Lee worked directly under world renowned Executive Chef Azmin Ghahreman at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort. After perfecting his fundamentals, Chef Lee came to Atlanta as the Executive Sous Chef at the St. Regis Buckhead. He then made his way to the St. Regis San Francisco, where he worked under Maitres Cuisiniers de France, Executive Chef Romuald Feger before returning to Atlanta as the Executive Chef of Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter.
“Chef Lee brings his passion for international flavours, an aspect the Dunwoody dining experience was lacking,” Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter General Manager Peter Dunn said. “Simultaneous senses are stimulated as patrons are invited to explore new dishes and tastes.”
